All Eyes Turn Towards Medlock Bridge Road
City plans are calling for
an increase in Medlock Bridge’s capacity by constructing three northbound lanes and three southbound lanes from Medlock Crossing Parkway to St. Ives Country Club Parkway/Grove Point Road.

According to a project map, this work represents the first phase of a five-phase proposal to improve Medlock Bridge for nearly its entire length through Johns Creek, from McGinnis Ferry Road on the north to the Chattahoochee River on the south, as well as a portion of State Bridge Road.
On February 22nd, City Hall held a Town Hall Meeting to specifically discuss this matter.  On February 27, City Council voted UNANIMOUSLY to delay any effort to widen Medlock Bridge/SR 141 from 4 to 6 lanes until AFTER the revised 10-year Comprehensive Planning process is submitted by the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) to the City Council for approval.

The St. Ives, Medlock Bridge, Thornhill, River Club, Winfield on the River and Prestwick homeowner’s associations were instrumental in putting the brakes on the first phase of this project.  Please remember to thank your neighborhood HOA Board members for the time and effort they devote to protecting the safety, character and property values of our subdivision and City.

Chris Coughlin has announced his bid to run in the special election to fill the Post 4 seat on the City Council.
JCCA Board Member Chris Counghlin Resigns to Run for Johns Creek City Council
JCCA board member Chris Coughlin turned in his resignation to the organization as he prepares to announce his bid for the Post 4 seat on the Johns Creek City Council.

Coughlin plans to fill the seat which was vacated when City Councilman Bob Gray resigned to run for Georgia’s 6th Congressional seat.

“We will miss the creativity and wisdom that Chris added to the JCCA,” said JCCA President Judy LeFave. “But we absolutely wish him the best.”

Coughlin briefly served on the City Council in 2015, as he won a special election to serve out the unexpired term of Brad Raffensperger, who was elected to the State House of Representatives.

Get connected and get involved! There will be several opportunities for the community to provide input and feedback throughout the next several months.

Please visit the City’s Comp Plan web page for more information on upcoming workshops and education sessions.

The City Needs Your Help!
Dear JCCA HOA Member,
At the JCCA we always try to engage our members as soon as we hear about new issues/projects that arise within the City of Johns Creek. Since the City was established ten years ago, most of the issues brought to the JCCA have involved zoning regulations, which is part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
According to Georgia State law, the Comprehensive Plan must be reviewed every 10 years. The Comprehensive Review is currently under review and will be updated with new zoning regulations that will affect how our city is developed between now and 2027.  Some development projects being discussed include: an increase in higher density housing (apartments, condos, townhomes), the redevelopment of major intersections, a new town center at one of four potential sites, and more.
As a JCCA member and a homeowner within your community, we ask for your involvement in this process. Please take the time to respond to the survey posted by the City of Johns Creek, which requests citizen input as they establish new guidelines which will remain in effect for the next 10 years.
To date, only 300+ citizens out of 80,000+ residents have responded. We need everyone’s involvement in order to have a viable sampling from our residents in order to develop our city in a manner that our families can enjoy. Please check Nextdoor for daily updates by searching “Comprehensive Plan” as well as the Connect Johns Creek city website. The survey link can be found at:

OR
We ask for your participation in order to best represent your desires over the next 10 years. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Best Regards,
The JCCA

Vietnam Veterans Memorial to Visit Johns Creek
The Wall That Heals, a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a mobile Education Center, is scheduled to visit the City of Johns Creek March 30 – April 2 at Newtown Park.

The Wall That Heals honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces during the Vietnam War and it bears the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

Hosting The Wall That Heals provides a community with a multi-day experience of reflection that includes an educational experience for local schools and organizations on the history of the Vietnam era and The Wall.

“We are both very honored and excited about the opportunity to host The Wall That Heals in Johns Creek,” said Mayor Mike Bodker.  “We will never be able to repay those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country; however, we can keep their memory alive and demonstrate our deep respect and gratitude by visiting the memorial, reflecting on the names listed on The Wall, and learning more about the Vietnam era.”

This is the first of only two stops in Georgia that The Wall will make in 2017, and it will be open 24-hours a day and free to the public.  The second visit will take place in Meter, Georgia.
